Bars Like Mars invokes the audience to question the pervasive nature of child slavery and it's contribution to modern life. Bars like Mars is an ode to the subjugation we impose on those we cannot bear to see to live out a self depreciating gluttony we cannot sustain. The title 'Bars Like Mars' is a juxtaposition between the injustices of the chocolate industry and the power & influence of art and lyricism.
lyrics
Bars Like Mars
Intro:
Hey, give us your chocolate and your freedom
Give us your chocolate and your freedom
I said, hey, give us your chocolate and your freedom
Give us your chocolate and your freedom
x2
Chorus:
I got Bars like Mars but without the children's tears
Companies and traffickers know to exploit your fears
Money is funny till the humour disappears
And anticipation dissipates as well as the revere
x2
First Verse:
I got bars like Mars but without the child labour
Even without a slave I got the wild flavour
Now it looks stupid that we used to all complain about our school
When that's all these children want. I'm a fool, I'm a fool
How'd I not know this?
Did I not notice?
These sneaky motherfuckers never told us what they sold us
Telling us life is sweet as the chocolate and the sodas
When in reality it's breaking bones of kiddies shoulders
Your reaction is merely a fire in the flood
Lost my appetite and comfort now it's time i lose my blood
For the children I will die, found my purpose through the sacrifice
Still the villainous are acting nice in the afterlife
And in the instance they call me a hippie freak
Don't ask yourself the question: Did he speak?
But rather: Did I listen?
Did I cry with little kids in prison?
And they almost all black if I forgot to mention
No money, no education, just a pot to piss in
I think that God forgot the mission
And they do it all for paper, yeah they do it all for paper
Just a paper and a pen, that's all these kids are wishing
Chorus:
I got bars like Mars but without the children's tears
Companies and traffickers know to exploit your fears
Money is funny till the humour disappears
And anticipation dissipates as well as the revere
x2
Second Verse:
Why are we here? I thought it was to love
They feed you competition so you'll be the one above
Cooperation will kill them, they know that it's the answer
Life's a bitch but that don't ever mean you can't advance her
You don't ever need to ask these children what hopeless means
Cocoa beans built off broken dreams
I got bars like Mars but without the diabetes
Fuck the chocolate, you should buy my CD's
Outro:
Hey, give us your chocolate and your freedom
Give us your chocolate and your freedom
I said hey, give us your chocolate and your freedom
Give us your chocolate and your freedom
x2
